in the census in 1850 in Russell Co., Alabama.309 Hog Island was not an island it was an area of Russell
county. She signed a will on 14 Mar 1868 in Russell Co., Alabama.310 She died in 1868 in Hog Island, Russell Co., Alabama.
She had her estate probated June Term 1868 in Russell Co., Alabama.311 Last Will and Testament of Roxy Douglas
In the name of God Amen:
I Roxy L. Douglas of the county of Russell County Alabama being of sound and
disposing mind and memory and being desirous to settle my worldly affairs while
I have
strength to do so, do make and publish this my Last Will and Testament here by
revoking
all wills by me at any time made and first I covenant my soul to God who gave
it and my
wordily estate I dispose of as follows;
First: I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin LEE. Douglas ten dollars
Second: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah West ten dollars.
3rd: I will and bequeath to my daughter Eliza Famerington ten dollars
4th: I will and bequeath to my two unmarried daughters namely to wit: Judith
Caroline
and Amelia Anne all my real estate, that is to say my plantation on which I live
together
with the hose household furniture my live stock of horses hogs cattle and sheep
also one
wagon and buggy all money papers and all things else appertaining so long as
they
remain single but by the marriage of either her estate passes to the one that
remains
single but in case both be married then in that case it is my will and I will
and direct that
my estate be slated and equally divided between my children and I do forth ordain
and
constitute William Gatewood executor of this my last Will and Testament . In
witness
whereof the said Roxy L. Douglas to this my Will consisting of this one sheet
of papers
have set my hand and seal this 14th day of March 1868.
