Aunt Mary Douglas passed away this morning at her home near Riverside, Ky, from
old age. Aunt Mary, as everyone knew her,, was born in Virginia in 1819, being
over ninety-one years of age. She was reared in old Virginia, where she received
a very good education, being women of quite extraordinary mental ability, she
taught her children at home and to use the best English. Reared in the age when
people were honest, she lived and did everything in the good old way. She never
cooked three meals on a cook stove in her life, but threw her stove away and
cooked her corn cake and potatoes in her ovens on an open wood fire. She was
member of the Christian Church. She will be buried to-morrow in the family burying
