24th Generation285. James J. DOUGLAS was born in 1817 in Pattonsburg, Botetourt Co., Virginia. He owned in 1829 in Botetourt Co., on Pergatory Creek.271 this deed shows James and Francis Douglas of Henderson Co., Kentucky selling 56 and 1/4 acres. This was part of his inheritance from his father. He appeared in the census 1850 Census in Henderson Co., Kentucky.272 James J. Douglas traveled to Warren county, Kentucky in June of 1857 to settle with his brother, William Buchannon, over the family farm , 200 acres in Warren county which he owned twenty percent of resulting from his fathers estate. William B. paid him $60.00 for his share and he traveled back to Henderson county, Kentucky and dissappeared. No trace has been found of either him or his wife Frances.. One of his sons, William A. Douglas did survive as he was a party of a law suit in Botetourt county, Virginia in 1882 which was the final liquidation of John B. Douglas Sr.'s estate. Research to find William A. has not been sucessful to date. James
